Privacy Policy

Effective date: 6 August 2026

Briefable is built around a simple rule: your mail is yours, and the sensitive details inside it should leave your phone as little as possible. This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle, how we handle it, and what choices you have.

1. What information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name and address. This is used to identify your account and to pre-fill forms when Briefable helps you respond to a letter.

Mail and documents. The letters, PDFs, and photos you add to Briefable are processed on your phone. We do not upload the original documents to our servers.

Usage and technical data. We collect limited information about how the app is used and basic diagnostic data, such as crash reports, so we can keep the service running and improve it.

2. How we process your mail

Briefable reads your mail using a lightweight AI agent that runs directly on your phone. This agent identifies what the letter is about, what you need to do, and any deadlines it contains.

Before anything leaves your device, Briefable strips out sensitive details, such as names, ID numbers, addresses, account numbers, and medical or financial information. These details are replaced with placeholders, for example [policy number] or [due date]. The original values are then deleted from your device.

Only the placeholder version, the structure and content of the letter without your personal details, is sent onward. This anonymized version is used to generate your tasks, deadlines, and summaries.

When Briefable shows you a summary or fills out a form for you, your real information is reassembled locally on your device, right before it is needed. It is not stored centrally and it is not visible to us.

3. Where processing happens

Most processing happens on your phone. Any processing that happens beyond your device takes place on servers hosted in Switzerland, which are subject to strict data protection laws.

4. What we do not do

  • We do not store your original letters or sensitive values on our servers.
  • We do not build a profile of you from your mail.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
  • We do not use your mail for advertising targeting.

5. How we share information

We do not share your personal information with third parties except as needed to operate the service, such as secure hosting providers. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may only use your data to provide their services to us.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or to respond to a valid legal request.

6. Data retention

Original sensitive values extracted from your mail are deleted from your device after they have been replaced with placeholders. Anonymized task and deadline data is kept while your account is active so you can view and manage your to-do list.

Account information is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app settings, which will remove your account data from our systems.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below.

8. Children's privacy

Briefable is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect.
